So did I tell you that the place I got for my picture at the fair was 2nd!!! I’m totally excited. I would have been excited for an honerable mention but to get 2nd is just way cool!!!!

I’ll be heading down there on Sunday and I can’t wait to see it on display. I promise to take pictures

This truly has been an amazing week! I just can’t believe it sometimes!!! lol I had a session on Thursday (sneak peeks to come later) when I arrived home my son ran outside and said “mommy I found Callie”! I kind of laughed and said no way! J came out and said it’s true she’s down cellar eating right now. I ran inside and low and behold my cat who had been gone for 2 WEEKS was sitting in the basement! I was shocked. She is super skinny and was so happy to be held. She’s doing much better and has been eating and I’m so happy she’s home. I just couldn’t believe it. I thought for sure she was dead! Where on earth does a cat go for 2 weeks? I guess we’ll never know. It’s just awesome!!

The next awesome thing that happened this week was I got notification from the fair. Remember I sent in two images to the State Fair Photography competition, well…. I WON!!!!

The black and white image of the baby in it’s mom’s hands won! I don’t know what I won and I don’t think I will until I get to the fair sometime next week. How cool is that. I was not expecting to win anything. They do a First Prize, 2 second prizes, a 3rd prize and 10 honorable mentions! So even if it got an honorable mention I think it would be awesome!!!! I’ll keep you all updated on what I actually did get when I go down there, I’ll take a pic of it there at the fair!!!

Even more awesome was that good friends of ours had their baby this week! Yeah for them! They had a beautiful baby girl and I will hopefully be doing her pictures very soon. Everyone thought she was going to be a boy (just instinct not ultrasound) except me, I always called her by the girl name they had chosen. I was so glad to be right!!! They are so happy and just will make great parents! It was such a blessing the whole thing, God was watching out for them. The amniotic fluid was very low and mom had to be induced but God was awesome and everything went smoothly and the baby is healthy!

So that was my AWESOME week!!! I just wanted to share! And if you happen to get to the Great New York State Fair next week, look for my picture!!!!

Holiday Mini Sessions

I’ve been working really hard to get this done, so you all can plan ahead and schedule your times and dates for these.

This year I’m offering special Holiday Mini Sessions on 2 dates only. The dates for these sessions are

October 11, 2008 and November 1, 2008.

I can ONLY take 10 session for each of those dates so act quickly. I’ve created a very special promotion to go along with these mini sessions. The ONLY way to receive this special offer is to sign up for the mini sessions. There is a $50 non-refundable retainer for these sessions to hold your time slot, then the remaining balance will be due at your session.

I’m feeling very sad today. My cat that I’ve had for 14 years got outside on Friday evening and is gone. She hasn’t come back and I haven’t seen her at all. I have no idea what happened to her. I’m missing her very much though. She has just always been there.

I was in the 9th grade when I got her and she traveled with me to the many apartments I lived in during my young adult hood. She used to sleep on my pillow before I got married, I think she doesn’t like J so hasn’t slept there for a long time!! LOL Every evening while I’m working on the computer or just watching TV she was either in my lap or on the back of my chair. I’m going to miss her VERY much.

Every time I go outside I think maybe she’ll be there to greet me. I wonder when I will stop hoping she shows up? There is still a small sliver of hope as it’s only been a few days but I just have a bad feeling.

This is the last pic I took of her chillin on the back of my chair.

I know it’s not very tragic in the grand scheme of things and I know that, however it’s nice to get my feelings out about it. Maybe just maybe she’ll come home. I’ll for sure let you know if she does.

holiday session deadline

I wanted to let everyone know that the last possible day to have a Holiday Session done is November 15th 2008. That means I won’t be doing any sessions after that date for people who need images for Christmas.

I will be doing other sessions after that so no worries there.

I’m in the process of working out some new, fun and exciting things to come here at Ellen Nicol Photography! Not all Holiday related!!

A new Collection is set to make it’s debut sometime in the next few weeks! Right now I have 3 portrait collections and I think to keep up with the digital age I need to add another one!! More details to come when the new collection is released. Just a hint there is a clue in this paragraph!!

Another thing that is coming are new Holiday Collections. I’m going to be offering one Holiday Collection this year as well as doing a couple of Holiday Mini Sessions. I will have all the exciting details on my blog and site next week when I return from my vacation! So please check back soon!!!

Just an FYI if you are thinking that it’s way to early to be booking Holiday Sessions this time of year I only have 4 possibly 5 Saturday’s available for 2008!!! Can you believe that!! So if you are going to need a Saturday session b/c of work schedules let me know asap b/c they are going to go FAST!!! (I do have lots more weekday sessions available if that works better for you but don’t take too long b/c I only do about 2 of those per week and I’m sure they will fill up quickly!)

I wanted to thank everyone sooo much for taking the time to vote on the images for the fair. I tallied up the votes and hands down the winners were

So the next step is they need to head to the printer to get ready for the competition! I’m very excited. I don’t really expect to win but it’s still fun to go through the whole process. And even if I don’t win I will have the prints for display in my new studio (details coming on that late summer).
